Rules & Regulations

  • Park riding and hiking hours are from sunrise to sunset. The park will remain open during the winter months while the trails are still safe, and the conditions are not muddy or slippery. Park closures will be posted on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/shelbytrailspark. Please like our page!
     

  • If you are the last person leaving the park you must lock the gate. If you get locked in, please text                  (502) 437-4375 for the lock code. 
     

  • No private individual is entitled to use the park for their own personal capital gain (Charging others for trail riding or lessons on park property).

 

  • All animals shall enter the park with a current negative Coggins. Proof is required when registering for a yearly pass or when buying a day pass at the stable office.

 

  • The park must be entered from 5063 Aiken Road. Access on horseback from Webb road is not allowed without prior permission from the Parks. 

 

  • Your E-signature is required online or at the stable office prior to leaving for your ride. This is for your safety and gives us a count for trail usage for future plans and funding.

 

  • No smoking anywhere on the trails or at the stables at any time.

 

  • No alcoholic beverages allowed.

 

  • No ATV’s or bikes are allowed at the Park.

 

  • Please park your horse trailer and vehicles in parking lot area designated by the stables. Do not park in front of the stables. 

  • Always ride with a partner. DO NOT RIDE ALONE for safety reasons. Please carry a cell phone in case of an emergency.

  • Please stay on mowed and /or marked trails in forested areas.

  • DO NOT RIDE in hay fields or native grass areas.

  • Watch for holes, dips and obstacles while riding.

  • Water troughs are available at the restroom building and Webb Road rest areas.

  • Ride at a slow pace so you become familiar with the park and surroundings.

  • Pets must always be on a leash of 6 feet or less and under physical control while in the park. Please do not bring your pets into the barn without prior permission.

  • Remember, Shelbyville-Shelby County Parks Board and Red Fern Riding Center L.L.C. is not responsible for accidents or injury to you, your horse or personal property. State Recreation Law applies. This is a privilege to ride on park property. Do not abuse this privilege.
